I see so many similarities between your education/practice and mine. Starting out in the early 1980s in a Spiritualist Church, I expanded my already open view of Spirit/Ghosts/Paranormal, etc. until I realized this church had very strong walls not allowing for expansion in thought. That's when I started moving onto other metaphysical ideas, books, lectures and teachers. It is amazing what is out there. Thanks for sharing your journey.

I respect the way other people want to run their own spiritual practices, and I also reserve the right to question them, as well as look for my own answers. It is amazing what's out there, each of us has our own truth and information, which doesn't mean it all competes or conflicts. It looks to me like the problems arise when people become such acolytes that they lose the ability to look for themselves, and their own truth. Cults of all kinds are created this way.
Where I get testy is when people feel the need to compete or invalidate the way others do things. It's really funny to see some of the folks in spiritual groups who would never set foot inside of their childhood religions again, go on to create new religions in which they have all the 'correct' answers. It's more difficult to find and have one's own truth. I'll check out your Substack, and thanks again!
Thanks so much for your response! All you say here is my way of thinking too. . One thing that gets my goat is when someone tries to convert you to their religion. Like I don't have a mind and need to be led. Wonder how they would feel if we tried to shove our belief system on them?! I've enjoyed this discourse. Blessings to you!
