The work you do on you, helps you to do your work
The time you spend giving to and healing yourself, is time well invested.
Hello friends and readers, I’m so happy to welcome in spring, the season of new growth! It’s a gorgeous one in Decatur, Georgia, where I live. As spring is opening up, I’ve been updating and clearing out the old energy from last season, along with some old stuff too. I started my first garden since moving here, and my little seedlings are starting to grow. Watching them do this is helping me remember that often new growth starts out looking small and tiny, with much of the action going on beneath the surface.
Those tiny seeds I planted in their little pots have been completely destroyed as green tendrils shoot out of them and rise above the soil, while their roots are deepening into the dirt. It’s all rather miraculous and dramatic - new growth coming out of destruction. All of it is necessary for the growth that’s coming, even though it doesn’t look like a whole lot is happening yet. Trust is the key for this new growth.

This week’s article:
The work you do on you, helps you to do your work
Sometimes I allow myself to get so busy with my work and activities that I run myself down. I’ve been primarily self employed for most of my adult years, and in my ever present enthusiasm to create my latest thing, I shirk my responsibilities to my body from time to time.
I know when I’ve gone just a bit too far over the line, because I hit one of those days where my body basically tells me, “no, you are not doing a thing today”. I’ve learned over the years that I have to listen to what my body needs if I expect to have enough energy to show up tomorrow and do my work, so on those days I do my best to give my body the rest it wants.
I’ve started to preempt my body’s needing to give me the ‘time out’ buzzer by taking better care of myself before I hit the exhaustion wall. However, despite my best intentions, I still manage to hit that wall from time to time. I’ve decided that’s okay, it’s part of the game I play.
Sometimes the exhaustion is simply my body needing more from me because of the new growth I’m bringing in.
As a clairvoyant and healer, I’m fully committed to spiritual growth and evolution, and that means for myself too. It is impossible to make your spiritual growth real in your daily life if you don’t include your body in the mix.
Bodies need more time to integrate all that new growth, and that’s perfect. There’s nothing wrong with your body for needing this from you. Your body runs at a different vibration than your spirit does, and that’s how it should be. Your body needs help from you in order to allow you to do your work.
Spiritual growth takes a lot of energy.
Everything you do in your daily life takes energy; even resting or napping requires the energy to do it. If you’ve ever tried to take a well needed nap and couldn’t relax because you had too much restless energy running through you, you know what I mean. When you start to take care of your own energy is when you stop feeling run over by energy you can’t control.
One of the many ways you do your work is listening to your body's needs, and giving to yourself. This helps you bring your body and spirit together more closely, which is when it really gets interesting!
Your energy is unique to you, it’s a precious valuable resource, and needs to be replenished from time to time. A good night’s sleep is one of the ways you refill yourself, meditation is another, and so is time off to relax and have fun. If you never fill yourself back in, you’ll burn out, get sick, or otherwise be forced to stop so that your body can restore itself.
Listen to your body.
You can’t keep giving and expect to have a bottomless well of energy, if you don’t ever put anything back. This is a common problem among people of all kinds, but especially for people who are very busy, responsible, or overworked.
Your body may put up with being run like this for a while, but if this becomes the norm for you, and you forget to listen to your body’s wisdom, it will find ways to make you listen.
There are people who try to operate their bodies from outside of themselves, ordering the body around, ignoring its pleas for more rest, better food, exercise. They are constantly running on empty, and look it. They make the body wrong, not capable of intelligence, as if it were a bad child having a tantrum. This is kind of like standing outside of your body pointing a remote at it, trying to get it to jump through hoops.
We forget that our bodies are deeply intelligent on every level, and really just want us to love them and listen to what they need and want. I have learned to give more to my body while going through times of intense growth, because I know my body will have to manage this growth too.
Self healing begins with giving to yourself.
By spending quality time getting to know and love yourself, to truly be your greatest friend, you can heal yourself. You will know when you need to move forward, and when you need to rest. You will more easily give your body the rest and respect it needs.
By accepting yourself and loving who you are, you become healing to be around. Others will be attracted to your beautiful attitude and spirit.
