Telling My Own Story
I was recently interviewed for a Voyage ATL feature, and learned things about myself I didn't know I knew.
Hi friends, after I shared last week’s article about being seen, an interview I did with Voyage ATL was published, and I was personally able to experience a new level of being seen, first of all by myself.
I’m writing about what I saw as the biggest positive I experienced from writing my own story. Read it below, (here’s the link to read the Voyage ATL interview too!).
Thank you for reading! My weekly posts are open to all.

Telling My Own Story
The most important thing I learned from having to tell my story for a recent interview was how to tell my story for myself, in present time.

Last week an interview I did with Voyage ATL was published.
Voyage ATL reached out to me months back, right while I was in the middle of resetting myself and my business, again. I’ve done this numerous times before in my 66 years on earth, and I should be used to it, but it’s always a bit of a shock to go through it. This reset was requiring me to step out of my comfort zone and choose to embrace myself right here and now.
After months of thinking about this interview, reading the questions over and over, writing out my answers, updating myself and my business, and working myself up to being seen now in present time (new headshots!), the interview was published and out there for everyone to see.
What a gift it was to have this opportunity. I was already doing the work of updating, but kind of taking my sweet time about it. This interview and the deadline to have it done by a certain time helped me focus and do the work I needed to do.
Everyone I know is in some kind of transformation right now.
If you’re here on earth right now, you are here to change and grow. It’s part of the reason why we are here. However, this still doesn’t make it easy to go through those times of having to leave behind the known for the not yet seen and at times terrifying landscape ahead.
So of course the first thing I did when someone from Voyage ATL reached out to me months back was panic. Haha. Hilarious. But I decided it was an assignment, one I’d been getting ready for. I was already planning to have new headshots done - I’d not had really good ones since living in Los Angeles pre-pandemic. I’ve changed so much since then, haven’t we all?
Happily, my husband is an actor and had just had new photos taken by a wonderful Atlanta based photographer, so I booked a session with him. Hooray! I won’t bore you with the panic and freakout I went through in the weeks before my headshot session, which turned out to be extremely pleasant and easy, and yielded some amazing photos.
Sheesh, for someone who is great at seeing other people and helping them see themselves, I’ve sure spent a lot of time hiding. Now is the time to be seen, so here I am.
Meanwhile, the USA is in its own uncomfortable growth period right now, and I live here, so that’s another energy to deal with daily. If you live here you’re doing the same, along with your own personal energy upgrades and challenges. The emotional loads we are all handling right now are massive. Give to yourself, naps are good. Stay awake and aware, give to those you can help, speak up, raise your voice. Show up, we cannot afford to go to sleep right now, except for occasional naps of course.
Naps are necessary for the Revolution. Remember that you have a very good reason to be in a body on earth right now, you chose this. Yes, you did.
The greatest clairvoyant ability is the ability to see yourself clearly.
The point of learning to see energy clearly is to first and foremost see yourself clearly, hopefully with love, empathy, and forgiveness.
The biggest deal was to tell my own story for me, not make it about everyone else in my life.
I appreciate that every step along my path, I’ve had the help I needed to get to where I wanted to go, as I have helped others do the same. I know I couldn’t have done this alone, none of us does, AND I also know I had to choose to do this work and walk this path. No one else could do that for me.
As I wrote out my history for this interview, something magical happened. I found myself able to validate my choices, experiences, and everything I’d created, even if I didn’t feel that way while living through it all. Though it may not have appeared this way to others at the time, I was invalidated for a lot of my life. Yet I kept going, even through the self doubt and invalidation, creating the next thing and the next.
As an older wiser person, I realize now from this vantage point that I needed to experience all of it, nothing was incorrect and I chose it all, yes even that invalidation. As I learned to see, love, and forgive myself, I could have my own story, my way.
Here’s a bit from the published interview:
“It’s amazing to sit here and write out this history for myself, and to be able to share it. The desire to create has been with me my whole life. The ability to be sensitive to energy and spirit was always there too, just waiting for me to open it up for myself.
I never predict the future, I find that to be a pointless exercise that isn’t based on anything helpful, and can actually get in the way of the person one is making predictions for. If anyone had predicted some of these things for me all those years back, before I had done my own work and had the experiences and walked the path, I wouldn’t have believed them. And yet here I am, at the age of 66, feeling like I’m just now starting a whole new level of my life, again.”
I really do think I was reminding myself of a few things in this interview. Here’s more:
“Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Every time I was ready to take a step forward in my life, and wanted to make a change, my next teacher or teachers showed up. It’s funny how that works!
The way it’s worked for me is that I would take a small step forward, ask someone else what they did, do my own searching, or say that I want to learn x or y. I’d ask people I knew for advice or a recommendation for someone or something that could help me. Being honest with myself about what I did and didn’t want was very helpful.
Being conscious about what you really do want is powerful. I think for me the key was to say I wanted a particular thing, sometimes that could just be saying to myself, ‘I want to learn how to ground myself’. I did this for about a year before my first psychic teacher showed up one day, seemingly out of the blue. My first class with her featured grounding, and I learned exactly what I’d been asking about all that time.
I would also recommend being patient with yourself, your process, and your body. Sometimes we ‘think’ we are ready for a step, but there might be several other things to get through and learn about first before we are actually ready for that thing.” — Kris Cahill in Voyage ATL

Inspiration for this week
Banshee screaming is recommended.
I am eternally grateful to have grown up with parents who read to me. Especially my mom, who was a total bookworm, always reading something. I still remember going to the local library with her and my 5 siblings, the youngest still a baby, and between us all filling a laundry basket with books to take home. You’d better believe every one of those books was read.
Thank you so very much for reading! Much love to you, Kris
